Search For The Needle Pets, Skins and Clans — Systems Guide

How pets and their evolutions work, what skins change, and what clans do in Search For The Needle — plus how all three stack with tools and classes.

Beyond the haystack itself, Search For The Needle has grown three systems that stack on the core loop: pets that boost your work and evolve, skins that restyle it, and clans that turn it social. All three have shipped since the game’s August 2026 launch — the codes CLANS, PETS and WEATHER each landed with their namesake system. This guide covers how each works and where it pays.

How do pets work?

Pets are companions that attach a multiplier to your clearing work. Each pet you equip works alongside your tools and class — three independent boosts on the same labor, which is why pet collectors clear hay at speeds no single system explains.

The system’s real hook is evolution: pets grow into stronger forms, so a pet you earned early keeps paying late. The ceiling of the pet game is famous — the basement’s OP pet, the strongest catch in the game, sits at the bottom of the basement guide’s descent.

What do skins do?

Skins are cosmetics — visual styles, no stats attached. The game wears its fondness for them in its own title: the [SKINS] tag front-and-center in the game’s name on Roblox. They are the reward track for players who want their farmer to look the part while the needle hunt goes on, and they pair with the game’s event cadence: new looks tend to arrive with updates and celebrations.

If a choice ever comes down to a skin or a multiplier, the multiplier wins every time — skins change the ride, not the speed.

What are clans?

Clans are the game’s group system — join up with other players under one banner. The system’s arrival was loud enough to get its own code (CLANS, 200 Gems, still active on the codes page), and clan membership brings its own participation layer to the game’s milestone celebrations, where the biggest Gem giveaways have landed.

Practically, a clan is where the game’s social loop lives: shared celebrations, shared events, and a reason to be online when the next 2MILLIONMEMBERS-style milestone pops.

What is the weather system?

Weather is the game’s rotating world-state: conditions change over time, and with them the farm’s mood and opportunities. It arrived via the WEATHER code (120 Gems, still active) and gives the map a rhythm beyond the chapter line — something to check back for. Watch the sky, and check the game’s channels when the weather turns; event windows tend to come with reasons to play during them.

How do pets, skins and clans stack with everything else?

The multiplier stack, in one picture:

  • Tools — the base rate (Hand → Hay Drone).
  • Class — the roll on top (Starter → Ultimate Farmer).
  • Pet — the companion boost, growing with evolution.
  • Skins and clans — cosmetics and community, no rate attached.

Each of the first three multiplies the others, which is the whole meta: the tier list ranks the class layer, the tools guide the base, and this page the third. Stack all three and the haystack stops being a challenge in any ordinary sense — at which point the timer becomes the game (see badges and speedrun).

What did the 2MILLIONMEMBERS milestone tell us?

The 2MILLIONMEMBERS code — 120 Gems, still active — marked the community crossing two million members within weeks of launch, and it shows the pattern every system here follows: the game celebrates its own growth with giveaways. Pets, clans, weather, milestone codes: every arrival has come with free value for players present at the time. The move is simple — be there, redeem early, evolve what you keep.
