Search For The Needle Badges & Speedrun Guide — Beat Your Best Time

All four Search For The Needle badges, how the best-time timer works, and the techniques players use to push their needle-finding runs down.

Every Roblox game keeps a trophy case; Search For The Needle keeps a stopwatch too. The four badges walk you through the whole game — arrival, the needle, the UFO, Chapter 2 — and the best-time timer turns “find the needle” from a task into a discipline. This guide covers the badge set, the timer, and how the top runs get their times down.

The needle — the thing all four badges and the timer revolve around

What are the four badges?

The complete badge set, as of October 3, 2026:

  • Welcome! — for showing up. Unlocks the moment you join the farm.
  • Found the Needle! — for your first needle find. The game’s title made into a trophy; see Chapter 1.
  • Find the UFO — for the game’s alien-flavored secret content, rooted in the basement and its puzzle.
  • Finished Chapter 2! — for completing the Halloween puzzle chapter; the Chapter 2 walkthrough covers the road there.

Four badges, four corners of the game: joining, the core loop, the secrets, the chapters. A full badge run touches everything Search For The Needle is.

How does the best-time timer work?

The game’s own description ends with the tell: “Beat your best time.” Every needle find is clocked, and your personal record becomes the score the game keeps pushing against. The timer reframes every multiplier in the game — tools, classes, pets — from “progression” into “equipment for a run”, exactly the way speedrunners think about their kits.

There is no global leaderboard board to top; the opponent is your own history. That design suits the game’s cozy pace: you are never behind anyone, only behind yourself.

What makes a fast needle-finding run?

The stack, route and rhythm:

  1. The stack. Hay Drone-tier tools, an A-tier or better class (Drone Specialist is the community’s speed pick), and an evolved pet. Three multipliers, no shortcuts between them.
  2. The route. Systematic lanes through the pile beat instinctive wandering — no patch searched twice, no backtracking. The same discipline Chapter 1 teaches, applied at drone speed.
  3. The rhythm. Sell in bulk, never mid-search; every interruption is time the clock keeps. Long, clean passes are where records live.

Luck belongs on the list too — the PETS code’s 30 minutes of 2x Luck (codes page) is the community’s favorite run-starter — but luck decorates a fast run; it does not create one.

Which badge is hardest to get?

Find the UFO, comfortably. Welcome! is automatic, Found the Needle! arrives through ordinary play, and Finished Chapter 2! is a known path with a walkthrough. The UFO badge hides behind the basement’s locked door and its alien puzzle — a real key hunt, real deduction, and the game’s most guarded content. The basement guide walks the whole descent.

Is there a leaderboard?

The game’s competitive energy runs through clans and personal bests rather than a global leaderboard — clans are where players compare runs and milestones. For most of the community that is the right shape: the cozy farm keeps no hall of fame, just the quiet scoreboard in your own profile. Your best time, your badge case, your collection — the endgame fits in one screen.

What is left after all four badges?

The same thing that is left in every great arcade game: the number. Pushing a best needle-find time down is Search For The Needle’s infinite mode — every update that touches tools, classes or pets quietly re-arms it, and every redeemed code is another attempt at the clock. New chapters like Chapter 3 add fresh routes to learn, but the timer outlives them all. Beat your best time; then beat it again.
